Axar Patel got injured during India’s Asia Cup 2025 match against Oman at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday. The Indian all-rounder hurt himself while trying to take a catch and had to leave the field for treatment. He is now doubtful for the big clash against Pakistan on Sunday.

The moment came in the 15th over of Oman’s chase. Shivam Dube bowled short to Hammad Mirza, who tried to cut but mistimed. Axar ran in from mid-off and reached the ball, but could not hold it. He juggled twice before it slipped away, and in the process his head struck the ground. He walked off in pain.

Earlier, Axar had played a quick 26 from 13 balls to steady India’s innings after early losses. But with the dropped catch, his day became a mixed one.

India’s batting was led by Abhishek Sharma, who smashed 38 from 15 balls. Sanju Samson added a calm 56, while Tilak Varma hit 29 in quick time. India raced to 60 in the powerplay, the best start in Abu Dhabi this tournament. Oman’s bowlers, however, pulled things back at the end.

Shah Faisal bowled brilliantly for Oman, finishing with 2 for 23. Jiten Ramanandi and Aamir Kaleem also struck key blows.

In the chase, captain Jatinder Singh made 32 and Kaleem fought hard, but the target of nearly 190 was always out of reach against India’s strong attack.
