President of Gono Odhikar Parishad Nurul Haque Nur stated that the Awami League is an obsolete entity and that there is no chance for their return to power in this country. He also claimed that politics fueled by black money has been prevailing in the country for the past 50 years.

He called for an end to this trend and urged for the cessation of electoral games for the development of Bangladesh.

Nurul Haque Nur made these remarks as the chief guest at a rally organised by the Jashore District Gono Odhikar Parishad on Thursday afternoon.

The public rally was held at Munshi Meherullah Maidan in the city, driven by aspirations ranging from the quota reform movement of 2018 to state reforms in 2024 and the rebuilding of a new Bangladesh.

Nur stated that although commodity prices have decreased in the global market, the reason they haven’t dropped in Bangladesh is due to corruption, misrule, and power greed of the current interim government, much like the previous one.

He said, “Those who are still flexing their power should look at the fallen autocrats. For a long time, looters turned politics into a feudal system, but the politics of plunder will no longer continue in this country.”

He added, “It is not possible to build a new state with the old system, so state reforms are essential before elections. No election should be held without restructuring the state.”

Nur alleged, “Sheikh Hasina ruled the country alone for the past 16 years, but in the end, she couldn’t even enjoy her afternoon meal.”

He stated, “Delhi’s goods have returned to Delhi. Those who are still showing off will be resisted by the common people of the country.” He labeled the Awami League as a “genocidal political party” and said this party is no longer acceptable.

At the rally, General Secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad Mohammad Rashed Khan said in his speech that the Awami League had created a one-sided history and the current interim government is doing the same.

He stated, “The ‘July Declaration’ has been published to favour a particular party. The people’s demand is state reform and a legitimate election, but if election reforms are not implemented, ‘Awami Fascism’ will return again.”

The rally was presided over by BM Ashikur Rahman, President of the District Committee. Other speakers included Ganadhikar Parishad’s Senior Vice-President Faruq Hasan, Senior Joint General Secretary Hasan Al Mamun, and Khulna Division Organizing Secretary Ashik Iqbal. The event was conducted by Rashidur Rahman Newton, Finance Secretary of the Jashore District Branch.
