Police have arrested an Awami League activist accused of threatening to kill the chief adviser of the interim government, the chief justice, and the army chief in a video that went viral on social media.
The suspect, identified as Md Alamgir, was detained in Fatikchhari Sadar, Chattogram, on Friday night, police confirmed. In the video, which has been widely circulated on Facebook, Alamgir is seen brandishing a blood-stained knife while hurling abusive language and issuing death threats against the three high-ranking officials.
Speaking on Saturday, Noor Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Fatikchhari Police Station, said Alamgir was arrested shortly after the video surfaced online. He was later produced before the court in connection with an explosives case filed at the police station.
Authorities said further investigations are underway to determine Alamgir’s motive behind making such threats.
