Popular Bangladeshi rock band Aurthohin has announced a major lineup change, bidding farewell to two longtime members while welcoming two new musicians to the band, alongside its former member, Shishir Ahmed.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, the band said it was parting ways with drummer Mark Don and guitarist Ehtesham Ali Moin, describing the moment as both emotional and full of new possibilities. The musicians also bid farewell to the band on separate Facebook posts.
“We are saying goodbye with heavy hearts to two incredible musicians who were deeply intertwined with our music and spirit,” the band wrote.
Mark Don had been with the band for the past decade and was described as the “heartbeat” of Aurthohin during that period. The band credited him for his powerful double-bass drumming and versatile musical contributions, which also extended to guitar and keyboards during studio and live performances. According to the band, his energy and dedication shaped the sound of several albums and concerts over the years.
Guitarist Ehtesham Ali Moeen, who just joined the band in 2025, was also praised for his technical skill and melodic guitar work, which the band said added a new dimension to its sound. His role in composing and shaping some of the group’s recent songs was described as significant.
“Through this long journey, we are grateful for their sweat, sleepless nights and brotherhood. They will always remain an inseparable part of Aurthohin’s history,” the band said.
At the same time, the band announced the addition of three musicians to carry forward the legacy, alongside its founding frontman, Bassbaba Sumon.
Returning to the lineup is Shishir Ahmed, who will handle guitars and keyboards. The band welcomed his comeback as that of an “old and beloved” member.
Joining him is Adnan Atique, who will also play keyboards and guitars, and is expected to add new layers and technical expertise to the band’s live performances.
Meanwhile, Sheikh M Reaz of the band Mechanics will serve as a guest drummer, bringing what Aurthohin described as a “new and explosive energy” to its rhythm section.
Despite the changes, the band assured fans that its spirit remains unchanged.
“Faces may change, but the soul of Aurthohin remains the same,” the band said, adding that it plans to return to the studio soon and prepare for live shows again.
