Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyan, on Saturday claimed that efforts are being made to reinstate the Awami League (AL).
“Many of those who wanted elections in December are now indulging in conspiracies to delay the polls. They are trying to rehabilitate the Awami League,” he said, according to BSS report.
Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, made the remarks at an orientation programme for newly appointed officers and employees of the Palli Daridro Bimochon Foundation (PDBF) held at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University auditorium in Dhaka, according to a press release.
Asif Mahmud added that if the elections are held as scheduled, those plotting to postpone the national polls will see their interests undermined.
He also emphasised that unlike the past practice of appointing party affiliates in various organisations, the current approach aims to ensure transparency. “We are trying to recruit people based on merit, not from a specific political party,” the adviser said.
