Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) has protested the attack on its Social Service Secretary AB Zubayer, Literature and Cultural Affairs Secretary Musaddiq Ali Ibne Mohammad, and other students.

The organisation described the incident inside Shahbagh Police Station as a “shameless blueprint” to establish dominance on the university campus.

In a statement, Ducsu Vice President Shadik Kayem said leaders and activists of DU unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, along with outsiders, carried out a brutal attack on Ducsu representatives, leaders of the journalists’ association, and students in the presence of inactive police inside Shahbagh Police Station.

Condemning the “brutal and shameless” attack, the statement warned that previous attacks on university students had led to the fall of a fascist government.

“If attempts are made to establish control on campus through terrorism instead of student-friendly activities, students will give an appropriate response,” it said.
