The future of the 2025 Asia Cup has become uncertain as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and a few other member boards have decided not to attend the upcoming Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting scheduled for 24 July in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This unexpected move has created serious doubts over important decisions regarding the tournament’s hosting and planning.

According to a report by India Today, the BCCI has already informed the ACC and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi about its decision. The Indian board has mentioned that ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Bangladesh are the main reason for skipping the Dhaka meeting. This step has been supported by Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Oman, who are also set to miss the session.

Despite the growing opposition, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who currently holds the position of ACC President, is firm on continuing with the meeting in Dhaka as planned. His insistence has raised concerns within the cricketing community, especially regarding the legal weight of decisions made without full participation from key boards.

As per the rules of the ACC, if a major meeting takes place without the presence of essential members, the decisions made there may not be officially valid. This possibility has sparked fears of a possible deadlock and further delay in confirming who will host the next edition of the Asia Cup.

With time running out and no consensus in sight, the fate of one of Asia’s biggest cricket tournaments remains hanging in the balance.
