The Bangladesh Army has officially clarified its stance regarding recent reports suggesting its deployment for sacrificial animal waste management and dengue mosquito control during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
The statement follows remarks made by the Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation, who reportedly said that the army would be engaged in managing waste and controlling mosquito-borne diseases during the religious festival.
In a press release issued Tuesday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated, “For public awareness, it is to be informed that the Bangladesh Army has no knowledge of such plans and has no intention of being involved in such activities in the future.”
The army emphasized that it remains fully committed to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and ensuring public security.
“In the current context, the Bangladesh Army is relentlessly working to protect national sovereignty and public safety. It believes that such civil activities are best handled by the relevant and competent civilian agencies,” the statement reads.
