Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has directed army personnel to maintain professionalism, discipline, patience and neutrality while performing duties during the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum.
He gave the instructions on Sunday while exchanging views with senior military officers, representatives of law enforcement agencies and civil administration officials during a visit to Mymensingh.
The discussions focused on inter-agency coordination and overall security management to ensure the elections are held in a peaceful, neutral and fair manner.
The Army Chief also instructed personnel to display citizen-friendly behaviour while carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
As part of the visit, he inspected on-ground activities of army personnel deployed under in aid to the civil power and provided necessary guidance.
In Trishal, the Army Chief laid the foundation stone of the Olympic Village and later took part in a board meeting of the Olympic Association.
The events were attended by the General Officer Commanding Army Training and Doctrine Command, the Engineer-in-Chief of the Army, the General Officer Commanding 19 Infantry Division and Area Commander Ghatail Area, the Director General of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre, the Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and other senior officers from Army Headquarters and the Ghatail Area.
