Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman returned home Saturday (12 April) after his visit to Russia and Croatia.
During the visit, he met with the Russian Army Chief, Deputy Defense Minister, and high-ranking military and civilian officials, and the Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces, including high-ranking military and civilian officials and individuals.
On 7 April 2025, the Army Chief paid a courtesy call on the Russian Deputy Defense Minister, General A Fomin.
During the meeting, they discussed issues related to the interests of the armies of the two countries, training assistance, development of bilateral relations and mutual trust, export of skilled manpower to Russia, higher education, mutual cooperation in regional security, and joint training.
The next day, the Army Chief paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Russian Army, General Oleg Salyukov.
During the meeting, they discussed future plans including defense cooperation agreements, training assistance, especially exchange of trainees between military training institutions, and joint training.
In addition, the Army Chief discussed with the Director General of the Russian state energy agency ROSATOM the timely completion of the physical security system of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and the provision of electricity transmission to the national grid.
The Army Chief met with senior officials of Rostec and ROSOBORON Export and had fruitful discussions on making military exchanges between the two countries faster and more dynamic.
During his visit to Croatia on 10 April, the Army Chief paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid.
During the meeting, they discussed defense cooperation and capacity building, potential opportunities for establishing a defense industry, joint military exercises and increasing mutual cooperation, and future plans.
