Army chief inquires about Jamaat Ameer’s health

Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has inquired about the health condition of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman over phone.

This information was shared in a post from Shafiqur Rahman’s verified Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.

“The army chief called the Jamaat Ameer to enquire about his health condition,” the post reads.

The Jamaat Ameer fell sick and collapsed on the stage while addressing their national rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on July 19. Later, he was hospitalised.

After hearing the news of Shafiqur’s illness, Waker phoned him to enquire about his health, according to the post.

The army chief has also expressed his readiness to provide any assistance needed for the Jamaat Ameer’s treatment.

The post further mentioned, “We express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman.”
