Army Chief General Waker-uz-Zaman has assured full cooperation to the United Nations Working Group on Enforced Disappearances (WGEID) of the Human Rights Council in their investigations.

A UN delegation paid a courtesy call on the army chief at Army Headquarters on Monday. The delegation was led by Vice-Chairperson of WGEID Grażyna Baranowska.

During the meeting, Baranowska expressed concerns regarding allegations against certain former army personnel who had served in various agencies (such as RAB, DGFI, and BGB).

In response, General Waker stated, “Such military personnel performed their duties under the respective agencies’ chain of command.”

He added, “The Bangladesh Army remains committed to judicial processes and human rights protection, and we will continue extending full cooperation to both national and international investigative procedures.”
