Randy Quaid has attacked Anne Hathaway’s casting alongside Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder 2, calling her a “horrible choice” and arguing that Nicole Kidman should return.
According to Deadline, Quaid, who played Tim Daland in the 1990 original, wrote on X: “We need Nicole back. Don’t be a pussy, @TomCruise… Anne isn’t sexy… if you haven’t noticed, she’s pregnant.”
He added, “We don’t need a new girl; we need a new race car!” Quaid also called Hathaway a “leftist, woke, horrible choice”, warned the film could “tank” and suggested Cruise and Kidman reunite.
Hours earlier, he hinted at his return: “Hey, Tom Cruise just called me. We’re making Days of Thunder 2!” Deadline contacted Paramount.
Paramount confirmed Hathaway’s 2 June 2028 IMAX release.
Jonathan Levine directs Will Staples’ script, with Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper producing. Tony Scott’s 1990 original earned $157.9 million worldwide. Cruise and Kidman married in 1990, divorced in 2001, and later starred in Far and Away and Eyes Wide Shut.
