Adviser to the Ministry of Labor and Employment Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hossain stated that all systems in Bangladesh have broken down and cannot be repaired within a single year.

Speaking as the chief guest at a cheque handover ceremony for the Labor Welfare Foundation held at the Natore Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Sunday morning, Sakhawat warned labor leaders: “The country’s police and administration have already collapsed across all sectors. If workers create further disorder, the situation will worsen.”

He emphasised Bangladesh’s over-reliance on garment and manpower exports, urging diversification: “We must sustain these two sectors while developing new export-oriented industries. Shipbuilding shows promise, and the government is working on it.”

The event was chaired by Natore Deputy Commissioner Asma Shahin, with Natore Police Superintendent Md Amjad Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr Md Arefin Siddique, Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Abul Hayat, and various labor union leaders in attendance.
