Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has accused the Awami League, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and Jatiya Party of utilising black money during elections.
Speaking at a rally organised by the Rangpur district and city units on September 19, 2025, at the Rangpur Public Library ground, Golam Parwar expressed his concerns over the state of the country’s politics.
The rally was held in support of five demands, including the organisation of February polls based on the July Charter.
The rally was presided over by Rangpur city unit Ameer and Rangpur-4 constituency MP candidate Maulana ATM Azam Khan. Other speakers included Jamaat’s Central Executive Committee member ATM Azharul Islam, Assistant Director for Rangpur-Dinajpur region and central working council member Maulana Mamtaj Uddin, and Prof Mahbubur Rahman Belal, MP candidate for Rangpur-3.
The rally was jointly moderated by city secretary KM Anwarul Haque Kajal and district secretary Maulana Enamul Haque. Other notable participants included Professor Anwarul Islam, MP candidate for Kurigram-1, Professor Raihan Siraji, MP candidate for Rangpur-1, Assistant Secretary Al Amin Hasan, and several others from the district and city units of Jamaat.
Golam Parwar criticised the absence of the PR system in Bangladesh’s elections, which he claims has led to rampant misuse of black money and election manipulation.
“The BNP refuses to accept the PR system. They cannot accept the idea that the prime minister cannot stay in power for more than ten years. If the PR system were implemented, black money and the business of nominations through crores of taka would come to an end,” he said.
He further alleged that those who profit from black money in nomination deals are opposed to the implementation of the PR system.
“The days of ruling the country by force are over. If the current state framework conducts another election without implementing the necessary reforms, we will see the birth of another fascist regime, another version of Sheikh Hasina,” he added.

Golam Parwar stressed that the people of Bangladesh will not allow it to happen.
The Jamaat leader reiterated the call for the July national charter to be made legally binding, emphasizing that the movement will continue until the demands are met. “The fight will continue until we achieve our goal,” he said.
Golam Parwar also called for an end to authoritarian and fascist rule in the country, demanding that the upcoming national election be held under the PR system.
“To put an end to autocracy and fascism and ensure the representation of all political parties in the National Assembly, there is no alternative to holding the upcoming election through the PR system,” he said.
He further argued that the people of Bangladesh no longer want to live under fascist rule.
“We need to hold a free, fair, and acceptable election based on the framework outlined in the July national charter. The people’s voting rights must be restored, and justice must be established,” Golam Parwar stated.
The Jamaat secretary general stressed that the upcoming national election must be held through the PR system, ensuring that every party is represented in Parliament according to the votes they receive.
This, he believes, will eliminate the possibility of the rise of fascism. He added that there must be necessary reforms to ensure a fair election, where all political parties have equal opportunities.
Golam Parwar also demanded justice for all the atrocities committed by the current government, including forced disappearances, killings, genocide, looting, and corruption.
He called for the banning of the Jatiya Party and all activities associated with the 14-party alliance, terming these actions as the people’s demands. “The people of this country are now calling for these demands. There is no time to waste; they must be implemented immediately,” he said.
The rally concluded with a procession that marched through the main roads of the city, culminating at Shapla Chattar. Thousands of people from various divisions participated in the protest and rally.
