Al-Arafah Islami Bank’s Palashbari Branch recently hosted a public agricultural investment distribution program in Sadullapur, Gaibandha, where a total of Tk 25.2 million was distributed among 334 local farmers.
Md Sakhawat Hossain, executive director of Bangladesh Bank’s Bogura Office, attended as the chief guest. AKM Amzad Hossain, executive vice president of Al-Arafah Islami Bank, served as the special guest.
Senior bank officials, along with local businessmen, teachers and notable personalities from Sadullapur were also in attendance. The event was presided over by ASM Robiul Islam, manager of the bank’s Palashbari Branch.
In his address, Md Sakhawat Hossain highlighted the importance of timely disbursement of agricultural investments, proper fund utilisation and ensuring that farmers benefit from concessional loans at a 4 percent profit rate. He also stressed the need for timely repayment of loans and encouraged other local bankers to actively contribute to agricultural investment distribution.
Speakers at the event called on Bangladesh Bank to further reduce the profit rate on agricultural investments, particularly for farmers engaged in cultivating winter crops.
