In a post on his official Facebook page, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to Muslims both home and abroad on the occasion of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha.
Focusing on the theme of the sacrifice inherent within Eid-ul-Adha, Tarique highlighted the occasion’s lessons against material possessions, stating, “The Holy Quran says that neither the meat nor the blood reaches Allah, but rather the purity of your intention.”
He went on to say that, for over 15 years, the Bangladeshi people have suffered under fascistic rule of the previous government and, after a long time, will finally be able to celebrate Eid in peace.
He added: “During the fascist era, due to the illegal power lust of subservient evil forces, values such as principles, ethics, religion, and social norms suffered a severe decline in the state and society,” going on to urge everyone to work together and strive towards peace and erase the massive inequality that has been brought about by the previous government’s reckless corruption and looting.
As a festival that promotes goodwill towards our fellow human beings, Tarique urged the people of the country to take care of each other so that they are able to enjoy the happiness of Eid and ensure no one goes hungry, especially in the wake of so much political and economic upheaval.
He concluded, saying, “May Eid-ul-Azha bring happiness and peace to everyone’s life, may it create bonds of harmony and brotherhood in society—this is my prayer to Almighty Allah. Allah Hafez, Long live Bangladesh.”
