Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin has been appointed chairman of the board of directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited.
A notification confirming the appointment was issued by the relevant ministry on Tuesday.
Citing legal authority under Section 30(c) of the Bangladesh Biman Order, 1972 (as amended by the Reorganization and Expansion Act, 2020), and the Companies Act, 1994—as well as provisions within Biman’s Articles of Association—the statement reads: “Sk Bashir Uddin has been made the chairman of the board of directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.”
Alongside this announcement, the existing chairman, Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury—a former adviser in the caretaker government—has been relieved of his role.
The notification further states the change has been made “in the public interest” and is “effective immediately.”
