The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued a notice to journalist Munni Saha and her husband Md Kabir Hossain, asking them to submit their wealth statements within 21 working days, amid allegations of possessing assets beyond their known sources of income.

ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain disclosed the matter at a press briefing held at the commission’s headquarters in Dhaka on Thursday.

According to the ACC, its inquiry revealed a significant inconsistency between the couple’s declared income and actual assets.

Munni Saha reportedly acquired wealth worth Tk 13.81 crore as of the 2024–2025 tax year, including Tk 1.85 crore in moveable and nearly Tk 11.97 crore in immoveable assets. During the period, her net savings amount was over Tk 73.93 lakh. However, ACC officials say her tax returns show an unexplained surplus of Tk 13.07 crore.

Her husband, Md Kabir Hossain, reportedly holds assets valued at Tk 16.68 crore, with over Tk 2.12 crore in moveable and nearly Tk 14.56 crore in immoveable properties. While his declared savings stand at Tk 7.33 crore, the ACC claims to have found an additional Tk 9.34 lakh beyond his known income sources.

The commission issued the notices under Section 26(1) of the ACC Act, 2004, which empowers the ACC to seek wealth statements from individuals suspected of amassing illicit assets.
