The student panel backed by Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has unveiled a 10-point manifesto for the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) election, promising concrete changes under the slogan, “Not promises, but committed to change.”
At a press conference held around noon at Bottala on the university campus, Vice President (VP) candidate Abidul Islam Khan presented the manifesto, outlining key priorities aimed at improving campus life for all students.
The manifesto emphasises the creation of a modern, safe, and vibrant campus focused on academic excellence and research advancement.
Key proposals include ensuring the safety and empowerment of female students, improving healthcare services including health insurance, and supporting students with special needs through enhanced educational and mobility facilities.
Other commitments involve modernising the university curriculum, infrastructure, and examination systems to boost research quality, and introducing eco-friendly initiatives such as a battery-powered shuttle service and effective waste management.
The panel also promises harassment-free administrative services, student loan programmes, and campus-based job opportunities.
Additional plans include expanding sports and cultural activities, strengthening digital facilities with cyber security measures, and fostering an inclusive, animal-friendly environment.
Finally, the manifesto calls for an effective DUCSU body and increased participation of Dhaka University in international forums.
