To ensure greater security within the essential Mobile Financial Service (MFS) sector and combat its misuse in criminal activities, bKash has been conducting a series of nationwide workshops, according to a press release. The sessions, held in various units of the Bangladesh Police, have trained around 4,500 investigating officers from different law enforcement agencies so far.

Recently, 50 investigating officers from the Sylhet Range Police attended a day-long workshop titled “Investigation and Prevention of Misuse of Mobile Financial Services” at a city hotel. Sylhet Range Police, DIG Md Mushfequr Rahman, attended as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included bKash Advisor, former Additional IGP of Bangladesh Police Dr Md Nazibur Rahman, and bKash EVP & HoD, External Affairs Major A K M Monirul Karim (retd.).

The workshop focused on using technology to identify criminal gangs and bring them to justice. Topics covered included tracking lost customer funds through digital transaction monitoring, preventing criminal activities such as kidnapping via transaction oversight, and the effective communication between investigating officers and bKash officials during investigations.

Additionally, the sessions outlined immediate steps to take when criminal incidents occur, providing officers with the tools to respond swiftly and effectively.

Over the last three months, similar workshops have been conducted in Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Rangpur, Lalmonirhat, Satkhira, Sunamganj, and Sylhet. This initiative, which began in 2017, continues to provide training for investigating officers across the country. A total of 400 officers participated in the recent training sessions across the seven districts.
