In a move rarely seen in Bangladesh cricket, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul held an open value-sharing session with national team players and coaches on Monday, less than 24 hours after returning from a vacation in Australia. Board directors were also present at the meeting.

The players, who later travelled to Sylhet to continue preparations for the upcoming three-match T20I series against the Netherlands later this month and the Asia Cup in September, were encouraged to share their views on performance-related issues and propose developments they felt would benefit the national side.

The initiative, labelled a “share and care” programme, was designed to strengthen the bond between the team and the board, while promoting direct communication. In a press release, Aminul said the BCB was “committed to acting on the insights shared.”

One of the key concerns raised was the lack of quality practice wickets. Players also highlighted issues with the domestic calendar, particularly the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). They requested the tournament be held earlier than its usual March-April window to avoid extreme heat. In addition, they pointed to the logistical difficulties of travelling to BKSP for matches given Dhaka’s chronic traffic congestion.

All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz stressed the importance of expertise and improved facilities, noting these were vital to “create an environment where players can truly grow and perform at their best.”

Responding to the concerns, Aminul revealed that work was already under way to improve infrastructure. The outer stadium in Fatullah is being redeveloped with new soil and raised wickets, while two new grounds are being constructed in Purbachal.
