President of the Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat has claimed that there are three main enemies of this country: “The first is India, followed by the Awami League, and, finally, Jamaat-e-Islami. They exploit any opportunity by riding on others’ shoulders, and so, everyone must remain vigilant against them.”

Ulfat made these remarks at a press conference organised by the Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal at the National Press Club on Thursday.

At the press conference, he stated, “Jamaat-e-Islami is a group that opposed the country’s independence during the Liberation War. They collaborated with the Pakistani forces and handed women over to them. Today, they are speaking with such arrogance. No one should forget their past.”

He further alleged that “Muktijoddha Sangsad (Freedom Fighters’ Council) committees have been formed in nearly 50 districts in exchange for money. These committees include Awami League supporters and fake freedom fighters.”

He also raised questions about the current ad-hoc committee of the Muktijoddha Sangsad, saying, “No opinions of genuine freedom fighters were taken in forming this committee. Instead, those currently in charge are appointing committees in various districts in exchange for money.”

Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal alleged that there were irregularities in forming both the first registered committee and the current ad-hoc committee, implicating the council’s Joint Convener Syed Munibur Rahman and Member Secretary Sadek Ahmed Khan.

Ulfat added, “The way Awami League loyalists and fake freedom fighters are being included at the district level, many of our party members are resigning from their positions.”

He warned that if the ongoing irregularities in the Muktijoddha Council and Sangsad are not stopped, they will be compelled to take legal action.

Also present at the press conference were the organisation’s Vice Presidents MA Shahid, Shahabuddin Reza, Mubarak Hossain, MA Halim, Torong Anwar; Organising Secretary Mia Mohammad Anwar; and Sharif Hossain.
