The West Indies have pulled off one of their most memorable ODI victories, ending a 34 year drought against Pakistan with a dominant performance in the series decider.

Shai Hope once again proved why he is among the finest ODI batters in the world. The West Indies captain scored his 18th ODI century off just 83 deliveries, leading from the front when his team needed him most. Hope’s innings shifted gears in remarkable fashion, with his last 36 runs coming in only 12 balls. Alongside Justin Greaves, he produced a stunning final eight overs that propelled the West Indies from 184 for 6 after 41.5 overs to 294 for 6 at the end of their innings.

Pakistan’s chase quickly turned into a nightmare, thanks to a career best performance from Jayden Seales. The fast bowler delivered his maiden ODI five wicket haul, dismantling the top order with precision. Seales claimed three of Pakistan’s top four batters for ducks, including dismissing Saim Ayub for the third time in the series. His accuracy outside off stump and wicket to wicket bowling proved too much for the visitors.

Pakistan were bundled out for just 92, handing the West Indies a crushing 202 run victory, their biggest win at home against an ICC full member side. The result also sealed their first ODI series win over Pakistan since 1991 and kept their hopes alive for direct qualification to the 2027 World Cup.

Coming from 1-0 down in the series, the West Indies showed resilience and belief. As Hope noted after lifting the trophy, the team has faced plenty of criticism in recent years, but this victory feels like a bright light at the end of a long dark tunnel.

For Pakistan, the result served as a harsh reality check, showing some of the struggles their opponents have endured. The tour ended with contrasting emotions, jubilation for the hosts and frustration for the visitors.
