A child was killed after being hit by a speedy truck on Dhaka-Sylhet in Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj district on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Dipu, son of Sagar of Senpara of the area. Abdul Kader Zilani, officer-in-charge (OC), of Kanchpur Highway Police Station, said that the goods-laden truck hit the bicycle of Dipu and as fell down in front of Jame-Ulum Mosque near Kanchpur bridge of the highway at 10:30pm on Friday.
Later, the truck ran over him, leaving him dead on the spot, he added.
The official said the driver has fled the spot soon after the incident. Efforts are ongoing to nab the accused.
