Bangladesh National Futsal team shortlisted 24 man official squad

For the first time in the country’s history, Bangladesh is officially building a national futsal team. As part of the preparation, a 24 man shortlist has been announced. This list comes after a period of training and evaluation led by newly appointed head coach Saeid Khodarahmi who has been appointed on a three month contract, the 59 year old aims to guide the national men’s futsal team through the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Qualifiers, scheduled from 20 to 24 September in Malaysia. Bangladesh has been drawn into Group G alongside futsal giants Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and hosts Malaysia. This marks the country’s first-ever participation in an AFC level futsal competition. The top team from each of the eight groups, along with the seven best runners-up, will qualify for the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup final round in Indonesia.

 

After working closely with the initially selected group of players, the Iranian coach has now trimmed the squad to 24 names. These players will move forward as Bangladesh prepares for its debut in the international futsal scene.

Coach Khodarahmi, known for his experience in futsal, has brought a structured approach to the team’s early development. The focus during the initial phase has been on understanding the basics of the indoor game and identifying players with potential to grow under a futsal system.

This move is a significant step for Bangladesh football, as futsal is a fast growing format globally and often serves as a breeding ground for technically skilled footballers. With the shortlist now announced, the players will continue intensive training and match preparations under Khodarahmi’s guidance.

The final squad for upcoming assignments will be selected from this group.
