Eight special trains operated free of cost on Monday across key regional routes to transport thousands to Dhaka as part of the nationwide observance of July Mass Uprising Day.

According to Bangladesh Railway(BR), the free services connected Chattogram, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Bhanga, Joydebpur, Narayanganj, and Narsingdi with the capital, with trains scheduled to return on Tuesday, 5 August, following public rallies and commemorative events.
The initiative was aimed at facilitating mass participation in the first anniversary of the historic July 2024 student-led uprising that brought major political change in the country.
On the Chattogram-Dhaka-Chattogram route, the first train departed at 5:15 am and was scheduled to return at 5:00 pm. From Sylhet, trains left at 4:45 am and were set to return from Dhaka at 8:00 pm. All other routes followed similar round-trip schedules, allowing participants to attend events and return home the same day.
The largest gatherings were expected at Shahbagh and Dhaka University areas, where rallies, exhibitions, and cultural programmes were organised to mark the day. Organisers urged participants to maintain discipline during travel and commemoration activities. Security and traffic arrangements were seen around major railway stations and rally points in the capital.
