The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the redrawing of parliamentary constituency boundaries ahead of the 13th National Election will be completed within August.

Speaking to reporters on Monday at the EC office in Agargaon, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed confirmed that the delimitation process is being prioritised and will be finalised before the end of the month. The move is aimed at ensuring updated and legally compliant boundaries ahead of the upcoming polls.

Meanwhile, the draft voter list will be published on August 10. A final list, incorporating corrections and appeals, is scheduled for release on August 31, according to a press release issued by Shariful Alam, director (Public Relations) of the EC Secretariat.

The supplementary voter list includes those born on or before January 1, 2007, and registered by June 30, 2025. It will also note the names of deceased individuals to be removed from the rolls. Eligible voters can submit applications for corrections, inclusion, removal, and address changes until August 21 of this year.

In terms of logistical preparations, EC expects to complete all election-related procurement by September 30. Financial transparency requirements are ongoing, with 30 out of 51 registered political parties submitting income and expenditure reports. Fifteen have requested extensions, one missed the deadline, and five have not responded.

EC has additionally received 145 applications for new party registrations. Letters requesting full documentation have been sent; 80 parties have responded, some seeking more time, while 59 have yet to reply.

Furthermore, a seven-member delegation from the European Union is expected to visit Bangladesh in mid-September as part of an election observation program.
