Three victims of the Milestone School plane crash, who suffered severe burns, are still in critical condition in the ICU, with one on life support.
Director of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Professor Dr Nasir Uddin shared these details during a press conference at the institute at around 3pm on Monday.
He stated that, currently, 33 patients are admitted to the hospital, 27 of whom are children. Among them, three are in critical condition and are being treated in the intensive care unit. Nine others are in serious but relatively less critical condition, classified as “severe,” while the remaining patients are admitted to other wards.
The director mentioned that three patients were initially planned to be discharged on Monday. However, due to bad weather and the need for additional dressing, their release was postponed. He added that more patients are expected to be discharged gradually throughout the week.
Furthermore, he informed that doctors from Singapore, China, and India, who had arrived to treat the burn victims of the plane crash, have started returning to their respective countries, while the remaining foreign medical teams will leave soon.
Earlier, on Sunday, two victims – Kazi Amjad Saeed (20) and Sabuza Begum (40) – were discharged.
Additionally, Sahil Farabi Ayan (14), a seventh-grade student of Milestone School who was undergoing treatment for severe burns, passed away shortly before 2am on Sunday night.
