BRAC University Vice-chancellor Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar has recently participated in the high-level political forum on Sustainable Development at the United Nations Headquarters, according to a press release.
The forum, focused on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), featured Professor Anwar in the segment “Institutional Reflections: Creating a Better World – Contributions of Higher Education.”
In his address, Professor Anwar highlighted the role of youth-driven innovation, research, and community impact, showcasing BRAC University students who are leading change both in Bangladesh and internationally. BRAC University alumnus and Millennium Fellow Srijan Banik also shared his leadership journey and the impact of his community initiatives.
During his visit to New York, Professor Anwar engaged with global institutions, civil society actors, and BRAC University alumni, exploring future collaborations with institutions like Columbia University, NYU Stern, and Carnegie Mellon, as well as organizations such as the Clinton Global Initiative and Open Society Foundations.
The event, co-convened by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the Millennium Campus Network (MCN), also included representatives from top universities like Oxford and Minerva University. In his closing remarks, Professor Anwar discussed the future of education, the agency of youth, and the vital role of academia in creating a more inclusive and sustainable world.
