Police have dismantled long-standing drug trading dens in Dhalpur City Palli area during a special operation.
The drive was conducted by Jatrabari Police Station, under Wari Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in overall co-operation with Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
According to sources, an organised syndicate had been conducting drug trade for a long time in Dhalpur City Palli and adjoining areas.
With educational institutions situated nearby, young students, children, and youth faced severe risks of drug addiction.
Although several identified drug dealers were previously arrested and produced before court, they resumed their drug business after securing bail.
The eviction drive was therefore launched to destroy the permanent bases and supportive environment of the drug trade.
During the joint operation conducted from 1 November to 2 November, police and the city corporation jointly demolished illegal structures and hideouts used by drug dealers.
Following the drive, regular police patrolling, plainclothes surveillance, and intelligence activities have been stepped up in the locality.
Official statistics show that between 2025 and October 2026, a total of 35 regular drug cases and 3 police assault cases were registered in the area.
A total of 305 mobile courts were conducted, resulting in sentences of various terms for 275 accused individuals.
