A wide divergence in academic performance was recorded among traditional educational institutions under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka in the 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations.
While premier capital institutions Dhaka College and Dhaka City College maintained pass rates and high counts of GPA-5 achievers, Dhaka Ideal College experienced a severe debacle in its results.

Expressing delight at the achievement, a GPA-5 scoring student from Dhaka College noted that the question pattern this year deviated from conventional norms to focus heavily on foundational and core concepts.
The student shared that examinees with strong conceptual understanding throughout their HSC studies delivered top results, while offering lasting gratitude for the quality classroom instruction and guidance provided by their teachers.
Appearing at the Sheikh Borhanuddin College centre, Dhaka City College delivered a balanced performance despite catering to a massive candidate body.
Out of 3,697 examinees who appeared, 3,557 students passed, yielding a pass rate of 96.21 per cent and a total of 446 GPA-5 achievers.
In stream-specific outcomes, 2,128 students passed in Science with 365 attaining GPA-5. In Business Studies, 1,278 students passed with 77 achieving GPA-5, while the Humanities stream registered 151 passed students and 4 GPA-5 achievers.
