In line with the July Uprising, National Citizen Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam said that no delay regarding the Teesta master plan will be accepted.

He said, “We believe our fight is not over yet. To continue that struggle and to build a new country, we are calling upon you. The party that emerged from the leadership of a mass uprising is the NCP.”

He urged everyone to support the NCP in realising the country’s development and the goals of the mass uprising.

He made these remarks at a street rally held in Ghoshpara of the district town on Wednesday afternoon, the second day of the “July March,” after arriving in Kurigram.

Nahid Islam further said, “Kurigram symbolises the struggle for the Teesta water agreement. Kurigram means Taramon Bibi taking up arms in the Liberation War. Kurigram means my brothers who were martyred in the mass uprising of ’24. Despite always fighting, Kurigram has been neglected.”

“Development does not only mean Dhaka’s development. When hear about development, it does not reach everyone. In the future, development must be such that it reaches Kurigram equally,” he added.

Before Nahid Islam’s speech, NCP’s chief organiser (southern region) Hasnat Abdullah, chief organiser (northern region) Sarjis Alam, and senior joint member secretary Tasnim Zara spoke at the temporary stage of the street rally.

Senior joint coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud, joint convener Atiq Mujahid, and local leaders were also present.

Before entering Kurigram town, NCP leaders participated in a street rally in Rajarhat upazila of the district.

Later, after concluding the rally in Kurigram town, they left for Fulbari in Kurigram to join another street rally. From there, they departed for Lalmonirhat.
