The United Kingdom, France, and Germany have jointly urged Iran to refrain from any further actions that could “destabilise” the Middle East.
In a statement issued on Sunday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz reiterated their stance that Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons and reaffirmed their support for Israel’s security.
Addressing the recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, the leaders stated, “Our aim continues to be to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.”
They further called on Tehran to engage in negotiations to reach a diplomatic agreement that resolves all concerns regarding its nuclear programme. In the statement, they said that the nations stood ready to contribute to that goal in coordination with all parties.
