Due to the active monsoon over the northern Bay of Bengal, thunderclouds have formed, and significant pressure differences are prevailing in the region.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty or squally winds may affect the northern Bay, the coastal areas of Bangladesh, and nearby seaports.
In light of the situation, Met office has advised all maritime ports—Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra—to hoist Local Cautionary Signal No. 3. The warning was issued in a special bulletin signed by Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman on Tuesday.
Fishermen and operators of trawlers and small fishing boats currently in the northern Bay of Bengal have been advised to proceed with caution and remain near the coast until further notice.
In addition, the Met Office forecast predicts the possibility of thunderstorms with wind speeds up to 60 km/h in eight regions of the country by midday. Widespread rainfall is also expected across the country, and this wet weather is likely to continue for the next three days, according to meteorologists.
