National Board of Revenue (NBR) has directed all Customs houses and stations to remain operational during public and weekly holidays from June 5 to June 14, except on the Eid day, reports UNB.
This decision comes in response to a formal request from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), which emphasized the need for continuous trade operations to support the export-oriented ready-made garment industry.
In a letter to the NBR chairman on May 14, BGMEA administrator Md Anwar Hossain stressed the time-sensitive nature of garment exports. He noted that delays in shipment could lead to financial losses and missed opportunities for earning foreign exchange.
