Biman Bangladesh Airlines has issued a warning on Tuesday to its customers following a rise in fraudulent activities involving scammers impersonating the airline and its authorised agents.
According to the airlines company, some individuals are acting as official representatives and contacting customers via unknown phone numbers. These fraudsters deceive customers by gaining their trust, collecting confidential information such as Passenger Name Records (PNR), and requesting payments under false pretenses. Once payments are made, customers either do not receive any services or are issued fake tickets.
They clarified that PNR and ticket numbers are not the same. A PNR confirms seat reservation, while a valid ticket is required to board a flight.
Possessing only a PNR does not guarantee a confirmed ticket, and any financial transaction based solely on a PNR may result in fraud.
The airline provided examples of phone numbers and bank accounts used in recent scams. Phone: 01749881978, 01322878863 and the Bank Accounts: Islami Bank – 20503100201880211; First Security Islami Bank – 013914300000215.
Customers are advised to verify all booking details directly through Biman’s sales offices, official website, or by calling the hotline (13636). For safe transactions, tickets should only be purchased from Biman, IATA-accredited agents, or verified travel agencies.
Victims of fraud are urged to report incidents to the nearest police station.
