Some six female aspirants have bought nomination forms so far to contest the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election, slated for September 9.
As many as 18 aspirants bought the nomination forms on Saturday, raising the total number of aspirants to 61.
Chief Election Commissioner Professor Jasim Uddin disclosed this information at a press briefing at the Returning Officer’s office in the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building on Saturday afternoon.
The last day for the buying nomination form is August 18.
Of the 6 female candidates, one bought the form for the vice-president (VP) post, one for assistant general secretary (AGS), one for health and environment secretary, one for research and publication secretary, and two for member positions.

Professor Jasim Uddin said, “We expect the highest number of collections in the final two days. We are prepared for that.”
He further warned that individuals accused in the quota reform protest cases will not be allowed to contest the polls or cast votes.
“Even if any accused is identified as a candidate even on the day before the vote, he/she will be barred from election,” he said.
The final list of aspirants will be published on August 26, with polling scheduled for September 9 – marking the first DUCSU elections to be held outside residential dormitories.
