At least 60 Palestinians have been killed in continued attacks by Israeli forces on the Gaza Strip. On Monday alone, at least 14 people were killed near a US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation aid center in southern Rafah.
According to Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera, the Israeli navy has towed the aid ship Madleen to the Ashdod port after detaining it en route to Gaza.
Twelve crew members of the ship have been detained, including Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg and Al Jazeera journalist Omar Fayyad. Their lawyer confirmed the information to Al Jazeera.
Organisers stated that the aid ship had set out to deliver humanitarian aid to the blockaded Gaza and was attempting to break Israel’s “illegal blockade.”
The ship was intercepted by Israeli commandos in international waters, approximately 100 nautical miles (185 kilometers) off the coast of Gaza.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, since the war began in October, at least 54,927 Palestinians have been killed and 126,615 injured in Israeli attacks.
