Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain stated that Tk 8.28 crore will be refunded to the 4,978 government-sponsored Hajj pilgrims in 2025.
On Sunday, the achievements of Bangladesh’s Hajj management for 2025 and plans for the upcoming Hajj season were presented to journalists at the conference room of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in the Bangladesh Secretariat.
The Religious Affairs Adviser said, “We are continuing our work, receiving support from Hajj officials and the media. Just as we achieved success in Hajj management last year, we are optimistic about receiving similar cooperation in the coming days.”
The adviser mentioned that plans have been made to further reduce Hajj expenses for 2026, and to achieve this goal, an agreement with Saudi Arabia will be signed in November.
He further stated, “Our goal is to ensure the highest level of service for Hajj pilgrims, providing them with a dignified and smooth Hajj experience. Alongside reducing costs, we are also placing special emphasis on maintaining quality standards.”
At the time, journalists from various media outlets, senior officials of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and representatives involved in Hajj operations were present.
This year, a total of 45 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims died in Saudi Arabia during Hajj. Among them, 34 were men and 11 were women. According to the Hajj office bulletin, the main causes of death were age-related complications and illnesses.
A total of 87,157 pilgrims from Bangladesh participated in Hajj this year. The Hajj journey began on April 29, and the last flight to Saudi Arabia departed on May 31. This year’s Hajj took place on June 5, and the return Hajj flights concluded on July 10.
