471 candidates to contest DUCSU elections

The final list of candidates for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections has been published, with 471 candidates set to contest the election. Chief Returning Officer Jasim Uddin confirmed this information on Tuesday.

On the same day, 28 candidates withdrew their nominations.

Uddin also mentioned that 10 candidates, who were disqualified during the initial selection process, did not appeal their disqualification. As a result, their nominations have been cancelled, leaving 471 candidates in the final race for various positions.

Position-wise breakdown of candidates in DUCSU elections:

Vice President (VP) – 45 candidates, General Secretary (GS) – 19 candidates, Assistant General Secretary (AGS) – 25 candidates, Secretary for Liberation War and Democratic Movements – 17 candidates, Secretary for Common Room, Reading Room, and Cafeteria – 11 candidates, International Secretary – 14 candidates, Secretary for Literature and Culture – 19 candidates, Secretary for Science and Technology – 12 candidates, Secretary for Research and Publication – 9 candidates, Sports Secretary – 13 candidates, Secretary for Student Transportation – 12 candidates, Social Welfare Secretary – 17 candidates, Health and Environment Secretary – 15 candidates, Secretary for Human Rights and Legal Affairs – 11 candidates, Career Development Secretary – 15 candidates, General Members – 217 candidates

The DUCSU elections are poised to be a major event, with candidates vying for leadership roles across various sectors of student life at the university.
