A group of 65 job aspirants from the 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) have demanded a fresh verification process and inclusion in the government gazette, alleging they were unfairly excluded during the final selection.
At a press conference held on Friday at the National Press Club’s Akram Khan Hall in Dhaka, the candidates said they were left out without explanation when the Ministry of Public Administration issued a revised gazette on December 30, 2024, replacing the previous one.
The revised list excluded 227 officers who had initially qualified.
After four months of protests and hunger strikes at the Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University, a supplementary gazette was issued on May 20, 2025, reinstating 162 of the previously dropped candidates.
However, 65 aspirants remain excluded.
“We are innocent and have no idea why we were left out,” said Shaoli Pal Tina, one of the affected candidates. Refuting claims of political ties, she added, “I studied at a private university and have never been involved in politics.”
The candidates allege that the ministry has not provided any clarification about the grounds for exclusion. They claim that they are suffering due to flaws in the verification process.
Other speakers at the press conference included Shah Md Moazzem, Md Al Amin, and Dwijmohan Sutradhar.
