Leaders of 30 political parties, including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, participated in the solidarity rally of Gono Odhikar Parishad at Shahbagh of the capital on Friday to press home their demands, including a ban on the Jatiya Party politics.

The programme, which started at 3:30pm, aimed to highlight three major issues, with the primary focus being a call for a ban on Jatiya Party’s political activities.

The speakers at the rally emphasised the need for punishing those responsible for the brutal attacks on Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur and other party members.

They also demanded the trial and cancellation of registration for both the Jatiya Party and the 14-party alliance. Additionally, the crowd demanded resignation of the home adviser, citing a failure to act in these matters.

Gono Odhikar Parishad senior leaders Faruk Hasan, General Secretary Rashed Khan, BNP Joint Secretary General Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zobayer, and other prominent figures from Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Bangladesh Labour Party, and anti-fascist organisations were among the key figures present.
