Three suspects have been sent to jail following the completion of their remand period in connection with the murder of businessman Yasin Gazi in Jatrabari.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Jonaid ordered the detention of the accused– Al Amin, Nazma Begum, and Sabina Akhtar– after they were produced before the court by the investigating officer Sub Inspector Farhad Ali of Jatrabari Police Station.
The victim’s wife, Sharmin Akhter, filed a case against Al Amin, his wife Nazma, their relative Harun’s wife Sabina Akhtar over her husband’s with Jatrabari Police Station on Monday, confirmed SI Farhad Ali.
No legal representation was present for the accused during the hearing on Wednesday. Previously, the court had granted a two-day remand for the trio on Monday.
The victim, Yasin Ghazi, 30, owned a restaurant named Maer Doa in Kazla’s Chantek. About four months ago, he sold the restaurant to Al Amin for Tk 2,70,000, with Tk 10,000 remaining unpaid.
Yasin and his wife Sharmin went to Al Amin’s house to collect the money at around 10pm on Sunday. When Yasin asked him for the money, an argument ensued. The other suspects then came in and got involved in a rapidly escalating physical altercation with Yasin.
The case documents note that at one point during the scuffle, Al Amin struck Yasin with a blade. A critically injured Yasin was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Yasin lived with his wife Sharmin and two sons in the Saddam Market area in Dhaka. He hailed from the Dhalirghat area of Chandpur Sadar Thana.
