The Ministry of Housing and Public Works has suspended three officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) over allegations of corruption and misconduct.
Deputy Director Rashed Ahmed Sadi and Assistant Director Bilal Hossain were suspended following accusations that they recommended government housing allocations without proper consideration of job grades and basic salaries.
They were also alleged to have solicited substantial bribes from applicants seeking D-1 and D-2 class houses, while also being involved in irregularities related to housing allocation duties.
The ministry’s notification stated that Rashed Ahmed Sadi accumulated substantial wealth and property through his involvement in a government housing allocation syndicate.
In a separate notification, Assistant Accountant Md Nazrul Islam was also suspended due to similar corruption charges. He is accused of demanding bribes from applicants in exchange for housing allotments.
