Three people were killed and at least 10 others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the Pabna-Dhaka highway in the Purba Bongram area of Santhia upazila, Pabna.
The accident occurred around 5:30am on Friday, according to Madhupur Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman.
OC Rahman said a passenger bus named Pabna Express, traveling from Narayanganj towards Pabna, collided head-on with a stone-laden truck coming from the opposite direction in the Purba Bongram area. Three bus passengers died on the spot.
Police rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent the injured to Pabna General Hospital for treatment. According to preliminary findings, the collision was likely caused by the bus driver falling asleep at the wheel.
Of the three deceased, two have been identified. They are Abed Ali (38), son of late Hashem Mollha of Shantipur village in Sujanagar upazila, and Monsur Ali (40), son of late Iyad Ali of Kalidar Para village in Ataikula, Santhia upazila.
