Twenty-two Bangladeshi pilgrims have died so far while performing the holy Hajj in Saudi Arabia this year, including 20 men and 2 women.
The information was updated on the Hajj management portal of the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Wednesday. Among the 22 deceased, 14 died in Mecca, 7 in Medina, and 1 in Arafah.
According to the Hajj management portal, the latest death occurred on Tuesday when a Bangladeshi pilgrim named Golam Mostafa passed away. A resident of Ullapara in Sirajganj, he died in Mecca due to a heart attack. Golam Mostafa had performed Hajj under a private management scheme.
The first flight carrying Hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia departed on April 29, while the last flight left on May 31. The return flights for pilgrims began on Tuesday.
At 10:54am on the same day, Saudi Airlines flight SV-3803 landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, carrying 377 pilgrims. The final return flight for Hajj pilgrims is scheduled for July 10.
