33 years since the last election
The last JUCSU election was held in 1992. After a long hiatus, a roadmap for the election was announced on August 5, 2024, in light of the changed circumstances following the July Uprising.
Despite a long delay by the university administration, a new roadmap was published on December 30 same year, following the mounting pressure from students.
The draft voter list was published on January 10 this year, and after a series of events, the election schedule was announced on April 30.
It is noted that the JUCSU election was set for July 31, but after a long delay, the new election date has been slated for September 11.
As per the schedule, candidates collected and submitted their nomination forms on August 18, 19, and 21.
The verification process took place from August 21 to 24, and the preliminary list of candidates was published on August 25.
Appeals against the validity of nominations were accepted on August 26, and hearings on the appeals were held on August 27.
The final list of candidates was published following the conclusion of the nomination withdrawal period on Thursday.
Voting will take place on September 11 from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. This day, voting in the hall unions of the university’s 21 residential halls will also be held.
Vote counting will begin at 7:00PM in the Senate Hall of the public university, and the results will be announced thereafter.
