A weeklong nationwide crackdown by joint forces has led to the arrest of 131 people and the recovery of 20 illegal firearms, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The drive, carried out from August 28 to Thursday, targeted identified top criminals, robbers, illegal arms holders, drug traffickers, smugglers, online gamblers, and addicts.
In the operation, law enforcers also seized 845 rounds of ammunition, 49 cartridges, two magazines, locally made weapons, narcotics, walkie-talkies, bulletproof vests, passports, mobile phones, stolen goods, and cash.
The detainees have been handed over to local police stations for questioning and legal action, ISPR said.
The statement added that the Bangladesh Army continues to conduct patrols and security operations across the country to maintain law and order. The army is also directly engaged in containing labor unrest in industrial zones.
ISPR said such drives will continue to keep the law-and-order situation stable and urged the public to report any suspicious activity to the nearest army camp.
