12 DIGs transferred in major police reshuffle

In a significant reshuffle, the government has transferred 12 Deputy Inspectors General (DIG) of Bangladesh Police to new postings.

A notification, signed by Md Mahbubur Rahman, Deputy Secretary of the Public Security Division under the Ministry of Home Affairs, was issued on Monday regarding the reshuffle.

The officials reshuffled are DIG Md Zillur Rahman, Additional Director General of RAB, has been appointed as Additional Police Commissioner (DIG) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP); Faruk Ahmed, Additional Police Commissioner (DIG), DMP, has been transferred to RAB as Additional Director General; Md Shafiqul Islam, DIG of Highway Police, has been posted as Additional Police Commissioner at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah; DIG Barrister Md Zillur Rahman, has been transferred as DIG of Railway Police; DIG Md Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan, has been made Commandant (DIG) of Khulna Police Training Centre (PTC); Md Abul Khair, DIG of Armed Police Battalion; has been posted as Commandant (DIG) of TDS Dhaka; Sheikh Mohammad Rezaul Haider, DIG of Railway Police, has been transferred as Commandant (DIG) of Rangpur PTC; Abdul Quddus Chowdhury, Commandant (DIG) of Khulna PTC, has been made Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP); Mir Ashraf Ali, DIG of Special Branch (SB), has been posted to Bangladesh Police Academy, Sardah; Shamima Begum, DIG of SB, previously under transfer order, will now serve as DIG at the Police Academy in Sardah; Md Sayedur Rahman, DIG of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), has been appointed Director (DIG) of the Central Police Hospital; Md Abul Kalam Azad, DIG of Highway Police, has been transferred to PBI Dhaka as DIG.

The order, issued in the public interest, has been made effective immediately.
